I HAVE RETIRED

EMS - Burley, Idaho

This is a picture of Life Run Ambulance Crew in 2005. Some of the people are still there and some have left. I really enjoyed working in the EMS field but after 36 Years I think it was time to retire.

Life Run Ambulance Personnel 2005

LIFE RUN AMBULANCE SERVICE

The service started in October 1978, the county decided to see if the ambulance could run in conjunction with the hospital. It was a good move for the county and the ambulance, for how the employees would get medical insurance, retirement and other benefits. Working with the doctors on a one on one basses has proven to be a benefit to them and the community. In July 1981 Life Run employees finished up one of the first Advanced EMTA classes in the state and became an Intermediate service. We run with three members on the first out rig. This makes it nice for us when transporting critical patients.
We provide service to the people of the Mini-Cassia area, from the Utah-Nevada-Idaho line to north into Minidoka County. With in the Cassia County Borders there are about 80 Advanced EMTA's and Basic EMT's. There is Oakley QRU to the South of Burley, Declo QRU to the East, Albion QRU to the Southeast, Almo QRU next to the Utah border (Which would be South south east of Burley), West Cassia QRU to the West of Burley, Raft River Ambulance to far east next to the Power County Line, and Malta Ambulance southeast of the Cottrel Range. Raft River Rescue and Malta Ambulance are both Basic Transport services. We at Life Run Respond rendezvous with them and if the patient is not a critical patient they will transport them to the hospital.

As for myself, Warren Larson, I started working ambulance in 1971. I started my first EMT class in 1972, I received my Advanced EMTAD in 1980. The first 1 1/2 years, I worked for a service that didn't pay, even though we were only paid on call at $.75 cents an hour, boy did I have to work a lot of hours to get anything. Then I started for another service that paid on time, but still didn't make to much (but are we in it for the money??) but it is a very thankful job, I worked 24/7. I always wanted to be a doctor but this is the closest I every came. In 1989 I started working for Cassia Regional Medical Center, it was new for the hospital, having an ambulance service in it but it has worked out very well for me. I started being the coordinator for the service in 1986 to present. I have seen alot of EMT's come and go and have a lot of fun memories, most are fun and some that are hard to forget.
I started for the hospital in 1978 and have been with them ever since. I started being the coordinator for them in about 1986. I got my Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a minor in Management from Trinity College & University. I completed this by going on-line and getting it from them.
